As a Clinical Teaching Fellow in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health, you will have the opportunity to deliver high-quality clinical teaching and learning experiences at the Royal Womens Hospital. You will enhance your skills as a medical educator, contribute to curriculum development, and be part of a team that values innovation and excellence in teaching. This role offers a unique chance to mentor and support students, while participating in professional development programs designed to promote excellence in clinical teaching.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver Engaging Clinical Teaching: Facilitate bedside clinical skills coaching, case-based discussions, and simulation sessions.
- Contribute to Student Assessment: Prepare and mark examinations, evaluate portfolio tasks, and participate in clinical assessments.
- Participate in Curriculum Development: Assist in designing and updating the OGN program to meet educational objectives.
- Engage in Professional Development: Attend training programs and participate in peer observation to enhance teaching effectiveness.

Your new team - Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
The University Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is responsible for teaching Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatal Paediatrics, to MD medical students. Currently, each year approximately 350 medical students spend 6 weeks (across 6 rotations) attached to the Department during the third year of their medical course. In addition, there are graduate research students pursuing full-time or part-time research through the Department. These include Honours, Master of Biomedical Sciences and Doctor of Philosophy students. In Quarter 3 of 2021, there were approximately 30 graduate research students enrolled in the Department undertaking their PhD, including 5 under examination.
