Discover life-giving possibilities

Lifeblood is more than just a job or a career, it’s an opportunity to be part of something that matters. As an organisation, our purpose is simple: life-giving donations, for life changing outcomes. Together, we want to help you build a fulfilling career with Lifeblood.

About the role

Step into a rewarding role as a Nursing Assistant where you will bring excellent customer-facing skills and a genuine passion to deliver an exceptional service to our donors in the regional community.

You will play a key role in supporting our donors through their donation process. Full training is provided so, along with the above, all you need is the curiosity, customer service skills and motivation to learn the process of collecting blood and biological product.

A day on the Mobile Donor Unit or centre could see you:

- Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate
- Create a donor experience they’ll love and want to come back Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
- Set up machines and collections equipment
- Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
- Monitor donors post-donation and assist them with rebooking their next donation
- Work collaboratively to achieve collection targets

No prior experience in blood collection is needed, our paid and flexible self-paced training program has a balance between on-the-job practice, and online class schedules to ensure that you are well supported.

Besides having a real passion to deliver an exceptional donor experience, you’ll need to be able to:

- Be comfortable working on our Donor Mobile Unit, including travel across regional South Australia for up to 4 nights at a time
- Be comfortable with air travel and long drives
- Hold a current, unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence
- Be comfortable with needles and blood/biological materials
- Occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs
- Support and foster a fantastic team culture
- Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
- Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Saturday, including weekends and afternoon shifts

Please note: Clinical experience is not required, but strong customer service skills and a proven ability to work effectively in a small team are essential. This role requires flexibility working across both Donor Mobile Unit & Donor Centre.

We place our employee's well-being at the forefront and express gratitude and care for one another. As an Australian Workplace Equality Index recognised employer and one of Australia’s menopause-friendly organisations, we celebrate diversity and support all our people.
