Welder / Fabricator – Full Time – 38 Hours (Melbourne VIC)

MGL Herald Pty Ltd specialises in reinforcement across all construction sectors including civil, residential, commercial and infrastructure projects. Based in VIC, we are expanding and seeking a skilled and fully qualified Welder / Fabricator to join our experienced team.

Responsibilities

- Reading project plans, blueprints and drawings and taking measurements.

- Performing MIG, TIG and other welding types based on requirements.

- Cutting marked‑out metal sections and shapes using hand tools.

- Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using a variety of equipment and welding machines.

- Joining components using manual or semi‑automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).

- Testing and inspecting welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.

- Conserving resources whenever possible to comply with project budget requirements.

- Coordinating with field labour crew for efficient installations.

- Cleaning and smoothing welds using techniques such as filing, chiseling and grinding.

- Completing products through processes like cleaning, polishing, filing and treating with acidic solutions.

Qualifications

- A minimum of 2 years’ experience handling fabricated/welded structures.

- Experience with MIG welding.

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

- Good focus on quality assurance.

- Knowledge of using safe working methods.

- Valid driving licence and transport desirable.

- AQF Certificate III or IV in the relevant field.

- Construction White Card (NSW issued preferred).

- A strong work ethic, commitment to safety and a can‑do attitude.
