Community Safety Officer
This is a full-time permanent position. The City of Port Adelaide Enfield (PAE) is a welcoming, liveable City. PAE acknowledges the traditional country of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains. This role sits within our Community Safety Team and is focused on improving community wellbeing and safety by fulfilling regulation obligations through education and enforcement.
Responsibilities
- Exercise legislated authority under relevant legislation
- Undertake enforcement action, including issuing notices and orders and institute follow up action where necessary
- Provide technical advice to the public on community safety matters
- Investigate and enforce legislation under the Dog & Cat Management Act including seizing and impounding any stray, lost or dangerous dogs
- Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs to increase awareness and protect public health and safety
- Ability to work over a 7-day roster including outside of business hours and be flexible in working areas across Council
Qualifications
- A current Australian Driver’s License
- Investigations training is desirable
- Conflict resolution training is desirable
- Highly developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to adapt and relate to people from diverse backgrounds
- Effective negotiation skills to deliver positive outcomes to the community in situations where there may be conflict
