GR Engineering Services Limited (GRES) specialises in providing high quality engineering design and construction services to the mining and mineral processing industry. Our services cover all aspects of a project life cycle from the initial evaluation and study phases through to design, construction, commissioning and operational support.

We are currently seeking a Drafting Manager to join our growing office team based in Brisbane CBD. As the Drafting Manager you will report directly to the Engineering Manager. You will be responsible for being a key Leader within the GRES drafting space, managing and supporting a team of draftspersons, planning and coordinating resources, driving quality and efficiency and also ensuring consistent design deliverables across multiple projects and offices.

Our current workload includes projects from traditional metals such as gold and base metals to the more complex battery mineral projects e.g. Lithium, graphite etc. and includes locations around the world. This role will be responsible for coordinating a multi-discipline team with full accountability and understanding across Piping, Structural, Civil, Concrete, Electrical and Mechanical space.

Key Responsibilities of the role

- Lead and manage drafting resources across projects, studies and proposals
- Drive safety and compliance through Safety in Design reviews and HSEC leadership, ensuring GRES standards and procedures are adhered to
- Coordinate recruitment, training and performance development of drafting staff
- Oversee CAD systems, 2D/3D deliverables and shop detailing packages
- Ensure design standards are followed as per Australian and International Standards and project requirements
- Quality management, systems development and reporting
- Support drafting activities across mineral processing plant design
- Foster good team relations in a multi-disciplinary environment

Skills/Qualifications

- Relevant industry Diploma
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in a similar role (Senior/Lead Design/Drafter)
- Previous experience in Mineral Processing design
- Proven Leadership and management skills
- Strong communication (both oral and written) and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels
- Knowledge and experience across multi-discipline drafting ie. Structural, Civil, Piping, Mechanical, Layouts
- Knowledge of drafting software systems, Solid Edge is preferable
- Knowledge of current Australian standards AS 1100
- Results driven with strong organisational and forward planning skills
- Current and unrestricted AU work rights
