Job Description
HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly clients living in their home. As a pastoral care volunteer, you’ll be actively involved with a local Christian church.
Could you brighten someone’s daywith a kind word, a listening ear, and a shared faith?
We’re looking for a pastoral carevolunteer to visit a gentle, soft-spoken widower once a fortnight. Though ingood health, she spends most days alone and deeply values meaningfulconnection. She loves sharing stories of her life in South Africa, her years ofwork, and the faith that continues to give her purpose. Crosswords, computerclasses, and warm conversation bring her joy.
Your presence could bring lightto her days through shared stories, gentle faith, and genuine companionship.
You’ll supplement andcomplement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:
* Support people to meet their spiritual needs
Skills required for this role:
- High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
- Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.

Volunteering along side Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.

Requirements
18 years or older • National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare •
We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one hour visit between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday, visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
