Pastoral Care Volunteer, Community Home Visits, Caboolture QLD

Job Description

HammondCare pastoral care volunteers support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly clients living in their homes. As a pastoral care volunteer, you will be actively involved with a local Christian church.

Could you offer a comforting presence and a faithful heart to someone once a week?

We’re seeking a pastoral care volunteer to visit a courageous woman living with a palliative diagnosis. She is a person of deep Christian faith, finds strength in Scripture, prayer, and open conversations about God. She also loves crafting, chatting about life (and a little politics), and spending time with her beloved Jack Russell, Bella.

Your visits could bring hope, comfort, and companionship.

You will support and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their guidance, you may:

- Support people to meet their spiritual needs

Skills required for this role:

- High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
- Pastoral Care training, such as Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or attendance at HammondCare pastoral care training—Spiritual Care Series—to prepare for becoming a pastoral care volunteer.

Your impact

Volunteering alongside Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience for both the person you visit and yourself. Regular visits can help improve quality of life and reduce feelings of isolation.

HammondCare

HammondCare is an independent Christian charity committed to improving the quality of life for people in need. We have a dedicated group of volunteers who partner with us to enhance the lives of those cared for by HammondCare.
