Description

We seek a full-time Senior Claims Advisor with strong property claims experience and some liability background for our Australian Claims Team. This role, based in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, or Perth, may involve managing property claims and require interstate travel.

As a Senior Claims Advisor, you will provide technical advice to national clients throughout the claims process, including settlement negotiations. You will handle General Lines claims like public and products liability, child protection, worker-to-worker, and ISR/Property claims.

You will manage complex claims, offer pragmatic advice on validity and strategy, advocate for clients, guide Claims Specialists and Brokers, liaise with global counterparts, manage international claims, share knowledge, support best practices, aid product development, and contribute to thought leadership.

The Role

- Manage claims portfolio for Property and Casualty insurance lines.

- Advise and support clients in negotiating and settling losses, collaborating with client advocate brokers as needed.

- Guide client advocate brokers to manage clients’ expectations throughout claims.

- Demonstrate claims management expertise to clients and prospects.

- Negotiate with insurers and their representatives on behalf of clients.

- Resolve coverage disputes by engaging with all relevant parties.

- Provide specialised claims advice to clients and stakeholders.

- Conduct or participate in claims reviews and legacy claims audits.

- Contribute to client tender processes and meet with prospective clients.

- Mentor Claims Advisors with technical expertise.

- Provide thought leadership in claims management.

Qualifications

The Requirements

- Law degree or equivalent qualification preferred but not required.

- Cert IV in general insurance and diploma (or equivalent experience) preferred but not required.

- Must hold all regulatory licenses and permissions as per local legislation.

- Highly organised, detail-focused, and takes pride in their work.

- Knowledge of insurance regulations and laws.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong relationship-building abilities.

- Capable of facilitating training and presentations.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

- Valid driver’s license required; some travel necessary.
