Adelaide Festival Centre operates four theatres in the Adelaide CBD – the Festival Theatre, Dunstan Playhouse, Space Theatre and the newly redeveloped Her Majesty’s Theatre.
About the vacancy
The Facilities Supervisor – Show/Event manages the Facilities employees who work during the evenings and weekends, to ensure all facilities services at Adelaide Festival Centre and Her Majesty’s are available and operating effectively in direct contribution to meeting the organisation’s business needs.
The Facilities Supervisor – Show/Event liaises closely with other Facilities leadership to ensure repairs and maintenance to all plant, equipment and services of Adelaide Festival Centre and Her Majesty’s Theatre is actioned, including organising and managing minor work requests.
Responsibilities
- Effectively lead show and event-based Facilities staff ensuring adequate staff coverage, prompt performance of duties, regular and open communication and that issues are identified and rectified in a pro‑active manner.
- Rostering show and event-based Facilities staff and electronic timesheet management and approval.
- Attend to urgent matters relating to the fire panel, emergency warning and intercommunication system (EWIS), and hot water, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) as required while our theatres are in performance mode and while there is an audience in attendance.
- Attend to the fire/EWIS panel during emergency procedures if and when required, including schedule evacuation trials and tests.
- Repair, report or isolate faults to plant in machinery and power points to the required standard. This may include the cooling towers, chillers, air handling units, compressors, pneumatic electrical/ controls, exhaust fans, fire systems, FIPS and associated motors, valves and pumps & irrigation system and the public address system.
- Conduct routine and ad‑hoc inspections of plant and equipment and fix and/or report issues and actions as appropriate including arranging quotes for works as required.
- Monitor and action Facilities Services Job Requests and delegate work to Facilities Services staff as appropriate.
- Assist in the input and management of preventative and breakdown maintenance programs and budgets that ensure business outcomes are achieved.
Competencies and Skills
- Experience in leading a team of maintenance / operations staff.
- Demonstrated understanding of asset management issues and associated operating processes.
- Experience in coordinating maintenance and minor works activities whilst achieving positive results.
- Experience in defining tasks, determining priorities and coordinating and scheduling activities.
- Awareness of Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and regulations and the application of WHS management systems in the workplace.
- Highly developed customer service skills.
