Job Description
- Prepare and review tax returns, ensuring compliance with Australian regulations.
- Support tax planning initiatives to optimise the organisation's financial position.
- Manage GST and BAS submissions accurately and on time.
- Provide advice on tax-related matters to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the accounting and finance team to maintain accurate records.
- Assist in audits and liaise with external tax advisors as required.
- Keep up to date with changes in tax laws and their implications for the business.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the department.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Tax Specialist should have:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in tax compliance and planning within the retail industry or a similar sector.
- Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws, including GST and BAS reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex tax matters clearly.
- Certification such as CPA or CA (or working towards) is highly regarded.
