Meet NetEngine and Scout Talent: Where Ideas Turn into Impact
NetEngine is a distributed software engineering company, offering a range of technical and digital solutions and services to clients of all shapes and sizes locally, across Australia and globally. This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility to work remotely while also collaborating in person as needed.
While our development skills are through the roof, we also have human skills - which means we can crack a joke, drink litres of coffee, and have a Friday arvo beer with our colleagues and clients. Our technical and people skills mean we tend to nurture and build long-term partnerships with our clients.
We deliver solutions and products with clear, user-friendly interfaces, ensuring the software development journey is seamless across a range of industries and innovations.
NetEngine is part of Scout Talent Group (STG), a service-enabled SaaS business delivering outstanding talent software and services which help our clients to grow their organisations. Our Group Purpose (our ‘Why’) is to connect people to grow companies, careers and communities.
STG is paving the way when it comes to recruitment and talent tech, and we plan to IPO within 2-3 years.
NetEngine is looking for a full-time Ruby on Rails Developer, based in Brisbane (Hybrid).
You’ll be joining a collaborative engineering team working on existing products, improving performance, fixing bugs, and building features that matter. Reporting to a senior tech lead, you/'ll have autonomy and ownership while working alongside other brilliant minds who love clean code, scalable systems, and solving real business problems.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Writing and maintaining high-quality, well-tested Ruby on Rails code
- Architecting and scaling complex applications
- Optimising server and database performance
- Integrating multiple systems into new and existing platforms
- Supporting PMs to make smart technical decisions
- Collaborating and knowledge sharing with a distributed dev team
While this is a Brisbane-based role, we welcome interstate applicants looking to relocate to sunny Queensland. We don’t offer relocation expenses, but we’re happy to accommodate online interviews and support a smooth remote hiring process.
The Green Flags We’re After
To thrive in this role, you’ll have solid Ruby on Rails development experience, ideally in a product-focused environment. You enjoy jumping into an existing codebase, finding elegant solutions, and working with others to make things better.
Green flags:
- RESTful API design and GraphQL experience
- Strong testing practices – Capybara, RSpec, etc.
- Performance tuning and scaling systems
- AWS deployment knowledge
- DevOps and CI/CD familiarity
- Good grasp of UX and user workflows
Culturally, you’re someone who can work asynchronously but communicate clearly. You value boundaries but can step up when a critical deadline arises. You’re curious, collaborative, and proud of your craft.
Your Life at NetEngine
In return, you’ll receive a competitive salary package reflective of your experience, plus a workplace that values learning, flexibility, and community.
Here’s what life looks like with us:
- Flexible hybrid work – remote-friendly with in-person collaboration
- Online interviews and onboarding support for interstate applicants
- Real learning opportunities
- A culture of recognition, growth, and support
- Regular social events, including Friday drinks and our famousQuarterpalooza(think quarterly Christmas parties)

- Pet-friendly office days(bring your furry friend)
- Healthy snacksto keep your energy and well-being on point
