The Opportunity

Fixed Term Contract – until August 2026, with potential for extension

Location: Melbourne / Hybrid

We're looking for a Senior Java Developer with expertise in Microservices Architecture to join our engineering team and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for our enterprise clients, including those in the Telco sector.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex backend challenges, and is passionate about building modern distributed systems that delivers real business value.

What You'll Do

Software Development & Architecture

- Design and develop microservices-based applications using Java and Spring Boot
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven services
- Implement scalable and resilient backend systems using best practices
- Collaborate on system architecture and contribute to technical strategy

Collaboration & Delivery

- Work closely with architects, DevOps engineers, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans
- Participate in agile ceremonies, code reviews, and mentoring activities
- Ensure code quality, performance, and security standards are met

Innovation & Best Practices

- Evaluate and integrate modern tools and frameworks to enhance development workflows
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in distributed systems

What You'll Bring

- Proven experience as a Java Developer in enterprise or consulting environments
- Strong expertise in Microservices Architecture and distributed systems
- Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and API design
- Experience with message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) and container platforms
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps practices
- Understanding of security protocols (OAuth2, JWT) and API governance
- Experience with agile methodologies and collaborative development
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
