NEP Australia is seeking a Broadcast Software Engineer to work with APIs for broadcast hardware and software, providing tools and workflows that simplify complex broadcast operations.

This role is based at our Southbank, Melbourne hub and involves weekend work aligned with sports broadcasts across Australia.

The position

The ideal candidate is a software engineer with media experience or a broadcast engineer with a focus on modern software development. You should understand the challenges of large-scale live events. You will collaborate with commissioning, support teams, product managers, and users, and may assist with high-profile productions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop secure, production-ready software for critical services using Golang, React, and PHP
- Create tests for new and existing code and contribute to CI workflows
- Work with the team to improve existing code
- Review pull requests and pair programming when appropriate
- Design and implement new features
- Troubleshoot and optimize code for bugs and performance issues
- Identify and report quality or security issues
- Provide documentation for users and commissioning teams
- Contribute feedback and collaborate with team members
- Engage in continuous learning to stay current with best practices and new technologies
- Coordinate with other engineering teams to ensure product quality

Required skills and attributes:

- Several years of software development experience
- Ability to quickly learn new codebases and frameworks
- Broad knowledge of programming languages
- Experience with database design and data modeling
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization
- Deep understanding of the software development process and related technologies
