About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold‑rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large‑scale underground mining method.

Who we’re looking for
Reporting to the Team Lead – Reliability, the Reliability Engineer will provide maintenance and reliability support for our mechanical fixed plant and infrastructure assets at the Cadia Mine. In this role, you will be pivotal in maximising the availability, utilisation, and performance of equipment across both surface and underground operations.
You will draw on your expertise to oversee the installation and commissioning of small capital works and plant modifications as required. Leveraging your experience in fixed plant and mining infrastructure maintenance, you will deliver effective reliability‑centred maintenance strategies, informed by condition monitoring programs, and develop comprehensive asset management plans for mechanical assets.
In addition, you will proactively identify and address potential hazards, lead mechanical fault‑finding investigations, and conduct failure analysis processes, including Root Cause Analysis, to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of plant reliability and performance for assigned areas.
- Monitor available data sources and intervene proactively on emerging risks to performance to avert business impacts.
- Communicate effectively to provide technical advice and support for site mechanical plant and manage internal stakeholder & customer relationships.
- Investigate equipment failures through a structured RCA process and identify, implement and action solutions.
- Engineer out areas of poor performance in equipment and safety by identifying and completing initiatives which deliver measurable value.
- Monitor technical developments, interpret the implications for CVO and take appropriate actions and recommend refinements to improve asset reliability and reduce operating costs.
- Provide direction and guidance on relevant mechanical equipment standards.
- Ensure effective management of contractors and consultants.
- Build own capability for work in current and future roles.
To succeed in this role, you will be a self‑starter, enjoy continuous improvement, and have the drive to deliver consistent results. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the innate ability to communicate effectively upwards and to operational levels, along with the following:
- Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Mining or heavy industry – Preferred
- Conditioning monitoring techniques – Highly regarded
- Demonstrable understanding of reliability engineering and asset life planning strategies
- Execution experience in fixed plant equipment maintenance
- In‑depth knowledge and experience with asset integrity management systems
- Exposure and knowledge of the NSW WHS (M&PS) Legislation and Australian Standards
Please note: This is a 5/2 (9 hours per day) or 9 days per fortnight (10 hours per day) residential role in Orange, New South Wales in Australia.
