This position offers you the chance to collaborate with a diverse network of stakeholders, including government representatives, community groups, and internal teams, ensuring that communication strategies are both effective and sensitive to risk. You will be at the forefront of developing and implementing impactful communication materials across multiple channels, using your expertise to inform and support high-profile initiatives. The organisation is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where your unique skills and perspectives are valued, providing flexible working opportunities and ongoing professional development. If you are passionate about making a difference through strategic communications and thrive in a supportive, collaborative setting, this role is designed for you.* Work closely with regional teams and stakeholders to deliver clear, consistent messaging on significant infrastructure projects, ensuring all communications are tailored to audience needs and project objectives.* Enjoy flexible working opportunities within a supportive environment that values your growth, encourages knowledge sharing, and recognises the importance of work-life balance.* Benefit from ongoing training opportunities and exposure to high-impact public sector projects that contribute directly to the community’s wellbeing and future development. What you’ll do: As a Senior Communications Advisor, you will immerse yourself in a dynamic environment where your ability to coordinate with regional teams is essential for delivering cohesive messaging on critical infrastructure projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve crafting compelling content for various audiences, managing relationships with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, and providing expert guidance on issues management. By staying informed about ongoing projects within the region, you will anticipate potential challenges in communication strategies while ensuring compliance with relevant policies. Your success in this role will be measured by your capacity to build trust through transparent interactions, offer thoughtful recommendations during periods of change or uncertainty, and champion best practices that enhance the overall effectiveness of the communications function. - Coordinate with regional communication staff to ensure alignment and consistency in both internal and external communications related to infrastructure projects. - Develop comprehensive communication strategies for high-risk initiatives by researching, drafting, and editing materials such as media releases, newsletters, briefings, display content, and speech notes. - Liaise with ministerial and departmental staff as well as representatives from government agencies, community organisations, industry bodies, and non-government entities to foster positive relationships. - Maintain up-to-date awareness of regional projects and activities in order to proactively identify emerging trends or risks that may impact communication efforts. - Initiate and nurture effective networks with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate information flow and collaboration across departments. - Provide strategic advice on issues management by offering recommendations and options for executive correspondence aimed at strengthening stakeholder relationships. - Monitor legislative requirements and policy frameworks to ensure all communications adhere to governance standards while supporting organisational objectives. - Support the delivery of accurate, timely responses to complex queries from stakeholders by applying sound judgement in evaluating information and escalating issues when necessary. - Contribute to the continuous improvement of communication processes by identifying best practices and sharing insights with colleagues across the organisation. What you bring: To excel as a Senior Communications Advisor, you will bring a wealth of experience in managing complex communications within fast-evolving project landscapes. Your background should reflect an aptitude for producing high-quality written content under tight deadlines while balancing competing priorities. You will have honed your relationship-building abilities through regular engagement with senior leaders as well as grassroots community members. A keen eye for detail combined with an appreciation for policy compliance ensures your work consistently meets rigorous standards. Your empathetic approach allows you to understand stakeholder perspectives deeply—enabling you to craft messages that resonate widely. Adaptability is key; you thrive when navigating ambiguity or shifting priorities by drawing upon your analytical skills and commitment to shared outcomes. Above all else, your passion for supporting others through clear communication sets you apart as someone who can make a meaningful contribution from day one. - Demonstrated experience coordinating communications for large-scale or high-risk infrastructure projects within either public or private sector environments. - Proven ability to develop engaging written materials—including media releases, executive correspondence, newsletters, briefings, display content, and speech notes—tailored for diverse audiences. - Strong interpersonal skills enabling you to build enduring relationships with ministerial staff, government representatives, community groups, industry partners, and internal teams. - A track record of exercising sound judgement when assessing risks associated with communication activities while knowing when escalation is appropriate. - Experience providing strategic advice on issues management as well as preparing executive-level correspondence that supports organisational goals. - Up-to-date understanding of governance requirements including legislation and policy frameworks relevant to public sector communications. - Capacity for proactive problem-solving by identifying trends or risks early on through diligent research into regional activities. - Commitment to maintaining open lines of communication across multiple channels while adapting messages for maximum clarity and impact. - Desirable: Experience working within infrastructure planning or delivery environments is highly regarded but not essential. - Desirable: Familiarity with executive correspondence protocols specific to public sector settings will be advantageous.
