Melbourne, Australia REA Group Ltd. Full time

Help design and set our technological roadmap

Balance technical expertise, strategic thinking and design skills

Permanent role based in Melbourne or Sydney

We're REA

With bold and ambitious goals, REA Group is changing the way the world experiences property. No matter where you're at on your property journey, we're here to help with every step – whether that's finding or financing your next home.

Our people are the key to our success. At the heart of everything we do, is a thriving culture centred around high performance and care. We are purpose driven and collaborative, which drives innovation and our ability to make a real impact. As such, we’re proud to have been named in Australia’s “Top 5” Best Workplaces two years in a row, as well as being recognised as a Best Workplace for Women.

Where the team fits in

We are seeking an Architect to partner with our Security, Enterprise Technology and Workforce Identity (SETI) function. The teams in SETI are responsible for making sure that our employees have the best possible technology experience and to make sure that our products are worthy of the trust of our consumers, customers, investors and staff. Given how heavily our employees rely on technology to get their jobs done, we are hugely important to the culture and outcomes of REA Group.

As the Architect for the SETI group, you will help design and set our technological roadmap, ensuring our architecture aligns with our business goals and supports our growth. You will also be a part of our cross-functional architecture group which drives our overarching technology vision for the business. As a senior individual contributor, you will need to balance technical expertise, strategic thinking, design skills and influence to drive innovation and excellence in our product and service offerings.

What the role is all about

Define and lead the implementation of business-aligned architectural strategies for our:

Workforce identity

Security

Employee-facing technology platforms

Ensure that our technology delights our staff and manages the friction often associated with security

Collaborate with other members of the architecture group to shape the technological vision of the company and integrate this vision into the broader business strategy

Deeply understand the needs of our different user personas across the company and design controls and frameworks that meet the needs of these users

Collaborate with team members from Security, Enterprise Technology and Workforce Identity to capture their requirements and to influence their decision making

Ensure the architectural integrity and scalability of our security systems and staff-facing platforms

Guide the selection of technologies and the design of solutions that are secure, robust, and scalable

Drive the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies and best practices to maintain competitive advantage

Who we’re looking for

Deep understanding of:

Enterprise technologies (including staff collaboration tools, business applications, audio-visual and messaging technologies and networking technologies)

Security technology and controls, ideally in a cloud-native, technology product context (including endpoint security, cloud-security posture management, detection and response automation, GRC automation)

Workforce identity and access management technologies (including Access Management, User Access Reviews, Privileged Access Management, Automated provisioning and deprovisioning)

Cloud technologies

Software architecture patterns

Extensive experience (Ideally 10+ years) in related roles, including 3+ years in a similar role. Experience in a marketplace and/or digital pure play company with a proven track record of leading large-scale architectural projects considered a plus.

Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD & FinOps practices.

Experience with evaluating different vendor technologies, and with considering build vs. buy decisions

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Forward-thinking and innovative, with a passion for staying ahead of technology trends and leveraging them to drive business success

The REA experience

The physical, mental, emotional and financial health of our people is something we’ll never stop caring about. This is a place to learn and grow.

A hybrid and flexible approach to working

Flexible leave options including, birthday leave and purchase additional leave

Flexible parental leave offering for primary and secondary carers

Our Because We Care program offers employees volunteering leave, community grants, matched payroll giving and our Community Café donates 100% of revenue to charity

Hackdays so you can bring your big ideas to life

Our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We are committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity, equity and inclusion. We believe teams with diverse ideas and experiences are more creative, more effective and fuel disruptive thinking. If you've got the skills, dedication and enthusiasm to learn but don't necessarily meet every single point on the job description, please still get in touch.

Like a lot of companies, we have perps out there who like to ‘phish’ and have had a few recent instances of people pretending to be from REA and making offers of employment, on the condition that they transfer money for security checks.

Our corporate headquarters in Melbourne is a bright open space, open to possibilities.
