The successful applicant will join the school's inclusion team and be responsible for the provision of occupational therapy interventions in a primary school setting. The inclusion team works collaboratively to identify and prioritise student needs across the school and the occupational therapist will be responsible for advising and providing professional judgement to the team and supporting the implementation of adjustments. The successful applicant will undertake a range of duties including, but not limited to: working alongside teachers, education support staff and allied health therapists to undertake classroom observations and provide reasonable recommendations to support student’s access to the curriculum and their learning environment; working within the inclusion team to build the capacity of staff and students; supporting the building of student Disability Inclusion Profiles, including providing written recommendation reports, therapeutic assessments and supporting school staff to implement relevant adjustments; facilitating and delivering professional development to teachers and ES in order to build staff capacity within the school; providing best-practice, evidence-based, therapeutic interventions to students; and communicating relevant information to all stakeholders including families/carers, school staff, school leadership and regional teams.

Selection Criteria

- Demonstrated experience in coordinating support for young people with complex needs including referrals to a range of specialist services as appropriate.
- Demonstrated knowledge and capacity to design and implement individual occupational therapy programs for students to enable them to better access the school’s curriculum.
- Demonstrated capacity to engage effectively with teachers, therapists, agencies, families and education support staff to achieve best learning outcomes for all students.
- Demonstrated capacity to undertake assessments and provide written and verbal reports for funding applications, classroom interventions and contribute to student Individual Learning Plans
- Demonstrated knowledge and capacity to design and implement individual occupational therapy programs for students to enable them to better access the school’s curriculum.
- Demonstrated capacity to engage effectively with teachers, therapists, agencies, families and education support staff to achieve best learning outcomes for all students.
