The Doctoral Teaching Assistantship is a part-time, teaching-focused role at 0.2FTE for a duration of up to 1.5-2 years (the actual period of employment may be shorter as it will not be extended beyond the academic year in which the successful candidate ceases to be a currently enrolled higher degree by research student based in the Law School). Applicants must be currently enrolled as a higher degree research student based in the Law School. The successful candidate will be allocated teaching in core Law or Criminology subjects.
Under the supervision and guidance of subject coordinators, the successful candidate will be allocated teaching activities that may include tutoring, marking and other tasks associated with the teaching and delivery of subjects. The successful candidate will be provided with opportunities to participate in mentoring alongside other skills development programs offered to staff at the Law School.
Some of your duties will include:
- Under the guidance of subject coordinators, teach subjects providing a high-quality learning experience that engages students through the conduct of tutorials, blended or face-to-face modes.
- Provide constructive, fair and timely feedback on learning to students.
- Work with subject or course coordinators on innovative subject and course level curriculum design, development and review in areas such as, but not restricted to, online and blended delivery, and assist in taking an evidence-based approach to evaluate how these initiatives improve the student experience.
Skills & Experience
- Current enrolment as a higher degree by research student based in the Law School.
- General understanding or previous experience in using subject administrative systems effectively, including timetabling, learning management systems, results reporting, and student record systems. It will be expected the incumbent learns this on the job, if no prior experience.
