What you'll do As Manager Case Management you will play an integral part in supporting both strategic direction and operational excellence within the Employee Relations function. Your day-to-day activities will involve providing high-level advice on complex people matters while collaborating closely with senior leaders across the organisation. You will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in workplace practices by developing effective solutions for challenging cases. Success in this role requires exceptional communication skills as you prepare detailed reports for senior stakeholders while ensuring all processes comply with legislative standards. By nurturing respectful relationships throughout the organisation you will help build an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued. - Manage and resolve complex employee relations cases including investigations, disciplinary matters, grievances, and performance management in line with government policies and procedures. - Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and staff on HR policies, award/agreement interpretation, and best practice employee relations within a government context. - Develop solutions for escalated conflict matters by leveraging specialist knowledge and resources within the team to proactively address disputes. - Draft, review, and present various documentation such as briefing notes, correspondence, reports, and recommendations to senior management and relevant stakeholders. - Oversee the administration of government case management systems ensuring accurate documentation, timely progression of cases, and compliance with legislative requirements. - Support the implementation and continuous improvement of workplace practices that promote positive employee relations while upholding public sector values. - Collaborate with legal teams, industrial relations specialists, case management units, and external agencies as required to resolve complex employee issues. - Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and strategies aimed at building a fair, equitable, high-performing workforce. - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation, government frameworks, and industrial instruments affecting public sector employment. - Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, accountability through proactive employee relations initiatives that support organisational goals. What you bring To excel as Manager Case Management you will bring proven experience handling sensitive people matters within large-scale organisations—ideally within government or public sector settings. Your ability to interpret complex policy frameworks combined with outstanding written communication skills ensures you can provide clear advice at all levels. You are adept at building collaborative relationships across diverse teams while maintaining meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of case administration. Your knowledge of current employment legislation enables you to navigate challenging scenarios confidently while always prioritising fairness. Above all your empathetic approach helps create an environment where everyone feels respected. - Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations cases including investigations, disciplinary actions, grievances, or performance management within large organisations. - Proven ability to interpret HR policies, awards/agreements accurately while providing clear guidance to managers and staff in accordance with government frameworks. - Exceptional written communication skills enabling you to draft comprehensive reports, briefing notes, correspondence for senior audiences. - Strong interpersonal skills allowing you to liaise effectively with senior leaders as well as negotiate outcomes collaboratively across multiple stakeholder groups. - Experience administering case management systems ensuring accuracy of documentation alongside timely progression of cases under strict compliance requirements. - Ability to contribute meaningfully towards policy development by reviewing existing procedures or implementing new strategies that enhance fairness within the workforce. - Up-to-date understanding of employment legislation relevant to public sector environments including industrial instruments impacting workforce management. - Capacity to work collaboratively with legal teams or external agencies when resolving complex employee issues requiring multi-disciplinary input. - Commitment to fostering inclusive workplaces through proactive employee relations initiatives that reflect organisational values of respect and accountability. - Tertiary qualifications in industrial relations, law, human resources or related fields are highly regarded; membership/certification with Australian Human Resources Institute is desirable.
