Competitive Salary: Band 8 - $133,367p.a.+ 12% superannuation
Location: Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home

About the Role
The Open Space Operations Coordinator will lead a small team to oversee the delivery of open space and tree related functions of the contract and monitor contractor performance and service outcomes. This position plays a key role in Councils ability to create a liveable environment across Bayside through leading Council’s open space asset planning and renewal, managing appointed contractors through effective planning and audit functions, and leading engaged officers to support effective contract management and continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring Council's Open Space and Tree contracts are effectively managed.
- Providing high quality customer experience and stakeholder management and leading the team to do same.
- Ensuring Councils open space assets are strategically and soundly managed.
- Lead a high performing team to deliver strong contract administration and customer service functions.
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:
- Demonstrated skills in team development and leadership.
- Demonstrated staff supervision skills, with the ability to provide motivation and guidance, goal setting and performance management.
- Significant experience in management of contracts, including performance monitoring, resolving issues and reporting mechanisms.
- Skill in managing one’s own time, setting priorities, planning, and organising work despite conflicting priorities.
- Well-developed decision making skills, including demonstrated skills in analysis and problem solving.
- Understanding of and ability to implement personnel practices including employee performance planning, counselling and occupational health and safety.
- Monitor staff work programs and priorities ensuring that they understand legislative constraints, Council’s planning objectives and Departmental commitments and priorities.
- Understanding of and ability to implement personnel practices including employee performance review and planning, counselling and recruitment.
- Experience in managing contracts, including performance monitoring and reporting mechanisms.
- Demonstration of political acumen and experience in delivering outcomes in a political environment.
- Ability to identify, develop and implement new systems, processes and practices aimed at continuously improving service delivery.
- Knowledge and commitment to implement Occupational Health and Safety practices and Equal Employment Opportunity principles.
Mandatory pre-employment requirements
- Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
- Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check.
