The Year 3 and 4 Community Coach plays a vital role in creating a positive and engaging learning environment that supports the growth and success of all students and teachers in the Middle School.

As a leader inLearning & Teaching for Year 3 and 4, the Community Coach works in partnership with the school’s Diversity Coach, Wellbeing Coach, and Deputy Principal – Learning & Teaching. Guided by the school’s expectations, processes, and practices, the Community Coach ensures that high standards are achieved across these key domains in Year 3 and 4.

The role centers on supporting staff to design and implement evidence-based, high-impact teaching strategies, with a strong focus onexplicit direct instruction, to meet the needs of every learner. The Community Coach is responsible for ensuring the consistent use of practices that have the greatest impact on student learning and progress.

In addition, the Community Coach is expected to foster respectful and collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, and families, contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture that supports the wellbeing and achievement of all.

Applicants should demonstrate experience in the following:

- Be committed to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church
- Proactively monitor, support and address issues of student wellbeing in their learning community
- Create and maintain a supportive, safe and engaging learning environment
- Liaise, plan and communicate with the Learning and Teaching Coach and Team, Learning Diversity Coach, year level teams, and enhancement staff to plan for best practice for all students in accordance with the School’s AAP and personalised learning adjustments
- Coach and support teachers to build their capacity in providing challenging and engaging learning experiences that are responsive to student needs through Teaching Sprints
- Coach and support teachers to build their capacity to differentiate learning, to ensure consistent and effective educational opportunities and academic growth for all students
- Consistently reflect on practice and demonstrate a commitment to growth and improved practice through coaching
- Understand and implement Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL), and support others to build their capacity to use this model to effectively manage behaviours and create safe, effective teaching and learning environments
- Support teachers to prepare for Parent Support Group Meetings & Parent/Teacher Interviews
- Build home - school partnerships and effectively support teachers to communicate student progress
- Monitor and assess student performance and use data to inform learning and teaching
- Clearly document teaching and learning programs and maintain accurate records of student and teacher learning and progress
- Track data to analyse and reflect upon the effect of learning and teaching programs
- Reliably report and provide frequent feedback to teachers about their practice
- Maintain deep knowledge of curriculum content and how to teach it using research and evidence based best practice
- Engage in professional discussions and feedback to improve professional knowledge and practice
- Actively engage in professional learning that aligns with the School Improvement Plan
- Attend, engage and co-facilitate weekly staff PL and PLTs
- Develop and lead professional learning for staff
- Build capacity of staff members by modelling and observing effective learning and teaching practices and strategies
- Facilitate reflective practice and support staff members in setting and working towards achievable goals
- Engage in a professional and collegial manner with colleagues, parents/carers and the community
- Participate in extracurricular activities relating to the life of the school
- Support level teams to organise and manage learning experiences including incursions and excursions as per school excursion policies and procedure.
