Whyalla, Australia Virgin Australia Airlines Full time

We're on a mission to bring new and uplifting experiences to our guests, transforming flying from simply 'nice', to something wonderful.

Like any good mission, this one starts with our people.

Which is why we encourage our team to embody the fun, laid back, authentic spirit we've become famous for. Because when they're free to be themselves, they're better able to own their personal responsibilities and go the extra mile to help our guests.

Crew Culture Manager

Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. We’re on a mission to make flying better than ‘nice’. And to do that, it takes a team of talented people who are passionate about customer experience, doing the right thing always, with a focus on safety – in the air, on the ground and in our workplaces. A team who values real diversity and inclusion, in a big brand with big ambitions.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Airport Experience team based at Adelaide Airport as a Crew Culture Manager and be the captain (okay, manager) of workplace culture for our awesome airport teams.

Leading our recent award-winning Guest & Ramp Services teams – recognised as Best Airline Staff Service in Australia/Pacific – you’ll be based right at the airport, where the action happens and where you’ll bring our people strategy to life with energy, empathy and your individual Virgin Flair.

With up to 4 direct reports and up to 600 indirect wonderful airport-based team members under your wing, you’ll set the tone, lift the vibe, and keep our culture soaring. You’ll get the opportunity to shape how it feels to work at the airport, support teams who make travel magic happen every day, and walk out knowing you made a real difference.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Crew Culture Airports, you will:

- Lead the delivery of the people strategy for the airport, ensuring alignment with national people objectives and operational needs.
- Lead, coach and cheer on our Leader Crew Culture’s (LCC’s) and Crew Culture Team Leaders (CCTL’s).
- Partner with the Airport Manager to keep our people and operations flying high.
- Being the go-to guru for all things people leadership, from performance and policy to reward & recognition.
- Coaching our Customer Experience Managers and Ramp Duty Leaders to be confident people leaders.
- Managing our union and employee representative relationships like a pro – with respect, collaboration.
- Jumping in early to resolve people issues and proactively addressing matters before they become larger problems.
- Making sure our team members feel supported, seen and part of something bigger.
- Inspire and motivate our airport teams to build an environment that delivers memorable experiences to every customer, every day.

What you need to be successful:

- Ideally a tertiary qualification in HR, business management or equivalent leadership experience.
- A passion for people and a sixth sense for workplace culture.
- Experience leading large teams in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment (aviation experience a bonus)
- Strong HR knowledge and comfort navigating people matters – from the easy to the complex and everything in between.
- A collaborative mindset with a healthy side of humour, resilience and ability to steady the team.
- Union partnering experience (you’re good under pressure and big on mutual respect).
- You’re a great communicator, a natural coach and a values-led leader.

Why join Virgin Australia?
