Overview
Relocation assistance available.
Are you passionate about making communities safer for women and their children? As a Team Leader within our Domestic and Family Violence and Sexual Assault programs, we offer an opportunity to work across regional and remote sites throughout northwest Queensland and the lower Gulf. We’re looking for an experienced leader who’s committed to staff development and community engagement, and who enjoys collaborating to make a real difference to communities.
54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit. Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity. With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities. From our programs to our support services - this is the place to realise your purpose.
A place to make a difference:
In this full-time, permanent role based in Mount Isa or the lower Gulf, you’ll inspire a dedicated team to accomplish ambitious goals for the Domestic/Family Violence and Sexual Assault Services. As a leader, you’ll contribute to strategies that enhance safety and reduce future risk of experiences of violence through the team’s counselling and case management support for aggrieved adults, children and young people. You’ll be part of our Queensland Programs team and report to the Regional Manager.
You will make a difference by:
- Leading, developing and motivating a dedicated and driven team
- Supporting and monitoring our services to ensure we meet targets
- Providing evidence-based risk assessments for all referrals received
- Building relationships with the local community
- Actively assisting staff to develop case plans, safety plans and providing feedback regularly
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
Culture and expectations
You’re an enthusiastic and committed leader who understands that children’s right to safety, survival, development and participation is core to the way we work. You’re active, creative and flexible in your approach to working with families and children, using a trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally sensitive framework within communities and when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You have the ability to develop and maintain partnerships with external organisations at all levels, and you can supervise, coach and mentor others with an empathetic approach.
This role requires:
- Experience in conducting safety and risk assessments for DFV and sexual violence
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to build a cohesive and high performing team
- Experience in building strong networks and partnerships in community
- Commitment to culturally safe work practices and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate activities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and de-escalate complex scenarios
- Current valid driver’s licence
Benefits and inclusion
At 54 reasons, we invest in the development and wellbeing of our people. Our workforce is approximately 600 people strong, and proudly diverse, whether in race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexuality, cultures and beliefs. We offer a range of rewards, including:
- Award rate salary ($55.72 per hour) plus full salary packaging benefits
- Generous financial assistance with relocation, if relocating to Mount Isa
- Individual learning plans to help map and deliver on your career development
- Extra leave to use in a range of ways to ensure you’re able to perform at your optimum
- Supportive managers and professional supervision, including monthly supervision sessions
- Support for workplace wellness, including access to our Employee Wellbeing Program
- Celebrate and feel supported in diversity through internal networks (Pride@Save, Parents and Carers@Save, Mental Wellness Alliance, Disability@Save, First Nations Advisory Committee)
