Your new role
Provide alcohol and other drug (AOD) counselling to clients referred through the Melbourne Drug Court, in partnership with Odyssey House Victoria. This role supports individuals with a history of offending by addressing AOD-related harm, underlying causes of offending, and co-occurring mental health and welfare issues through counselling, referrals, group programs, and collaboration with court and health professionals.

Your skills and experience
We are seeking an experienced AOD Counsellor to support clients referred through the Melbourne Drug Court. The role involves delivering counselling, assessment, and therapeutic interventions to individuals with complex needs, including co-occurring mental health and forensic issues.
Key Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant health or welfare field (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Allied Health)
- Certificate IV in AOD or completion of core competencies (or willingness to complete within 24 months)
- Eligibility as a Department Accredited Forensic Clinical Drug Assessor
- Minimum 4 years' experience in assessment and counselling, preferably in the AOD sector
- Strong background in therapeutic approaches such as:
- Motivational Enhancement Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Coping Skills Training
- Family Inclusive Practice
- Self-help groups
- Community Reinforcement Approaches
- Demonstrated experience working with forensic clients and systems
