Role Overview
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Community Development professional to lead the delivery of our community development strategy across Tasmania. This role, based in Mowbray, is central to how we engage with communities, build meaningful partnerships and create opportunities for economic and social participation.
You’ll be supporting staff in community engagement, driving major projects and programs, and helping shape initiatives that truly make a difference.
About You
To be successful for this role, you will be a community focused professional who has a genuine passion for wanting to support vulnerable people in our community.
Your previous experience and expertise within community development and engagement, and project management will be highly regarded as you are heavily involved in strategic development and implementation of community development programs. You will put your strategic planning skills to good use as you work within specified timeframes and budgets.
What you’ll do
- Lead the implementation of our community development strategy across Tasmania
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with government, community organisations, research bodies and private sector stakeholders
- Design and deliver major projects and programs focused on community building, economic participation and social enterprise
- Contribute to grant applications and tender submissions related to community development
- Use your initiative to improve existing services and develop new, innovative programs
What we’re looking for
You’re a community-focused professional who’s driven by a genuine desire to support vulnerable people. You bring strategic thinking, creativity and a collaborative spirit to everything you do.
Ideally you’ll have:
- Around Five years’ experience in developing and implementing community development programs
- Strong project management experience – including design, development, implementation and coordination
- Knowledge of the social enterprise sector
- Experience in the social or community housing industry (highly regarded)
- A proven ability to build strategic partnerships with external organisations
- A deep commitment to the right of every person to quality housing and a sense of belonging
Please note that a satisfactory police check is required for all staff and those with client related responsibilities are required to provide a NDIS and Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP).
