Sydney Showgroundis a world-class venue, delivering close to 150 national and international events each year, including music festivals, sporting events, exhibitions, trade shows and theSydney Royal Easter Show, the flagship event of the RAS and one of the nation's largest annual ticketed event.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Grounds Person to join our esteemed Sports Turf Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified greenkeeper to contribute to the maintenance and presentation of the prestigious ENGIE Stadium.

In the lead up to, during and post Sydney Showground events a high degree of flexibility is essential. You will work on a rotating roster, which includes working weekends and public holidays as required.

ENGIE Stadium, located at the iconic Sydney Showground, is the proud home of AFL’s GWS Giants and BBL’s Sydney Thunder. In addition to hosting thrilling sports events, the stadium also plays host to special events such as music festivals and concerts. One of the highlights of our calendar is working on Australia's largest ticketed event, the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintenance and preperation of playing surfaces for AFL, BBL, and other sporting events
- Maintenance and preparation of GWS Giants Training Facility
- Maintenance and preperation of Sydney Showground drop in wickets and practice wicket facility
- Upkeep of the stadium grounds to ensure they are in optimal condition for various events
- Participation in the preparation and maintenance of surfaces for special events, including concerts and the Sydney Royal Easter Show
- Ensuring all work complies with safety standards and regulations

About you

Essential knowledge, skills & competencies

- Certificate III in Sports Turf Management / Horticulture or a relevant discipline [Critical]
- Hold a current C Class Drivers Licence
- Hold appropriate licence to spray chemicals
- Previous experience applying chemical sprays and identifying areas of concern.
- Previous exposure and/or experience in sporting field maintenance
- A sound understanding and knowledge of WHS regulations
- Ability to take initiative and deal with a variety of challenges that may arise
- Proven history of being punctual & reliable
- Have excellent communication & interpersonal skills
- Be legally entitled to live & work in Australia.
