Salary: Level 3, $137,428–$150,385 per annum (pro‑rate) (SEA GA 2023)
This is a permanent full‑time position commencing Term 1, 2026
Our beautiful 100‑year‑old school stands on the bank of the Avon River and has a proud and rich history of providing a comprehensive curriculum to students in Years 7‑12 from Northam and surrounding Wheatbelt towns. At Northam Senior High School (SHS) we build positive, honest and connected relationships to ensure that our students can contribute to their current and future communities. Our vision is “A Community United”, achieved through our four values: Courage, Collaboration, Connection and Communication.
With over 650 students, we are the largest school in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. Northam SHS is a school where everyone matters and where our students all want to leave the school with clear pathways and opportunities for success.
The Role
As the Program Coordinator – Community Leader, you will work collaboratively with the Principal and the Senior Leadership team to provide educational leadership within the school and the wider community. You will develop and promote the school’s vision for academic and artistic excellence, encouraging staff, volunteers and community members to share ownership of the school’s goals and creative direction.
The successful applicant will build positive relationships between students, staff, parents and the local community, leading a learning community that is proactive, innovative and supportive, ensuring successful learning outcomes for students and teachers.
You should have a sound understanding of multi‑tiered systems of support, including effective intervention strategies across academic, engagement and wellbeing domains, and be able to apply this knowledge to support whole‑child teaching, learning and well‑being within the school community.
As an instructional leader you will provide direction and purpose to staff, build and sustain team cohesion, promote a culture of quality teaching and positive academic learning experiences for all students, and collaborate effectively with others to sustain a strengths‑based professional culture.
The role also includes leadership of a curriculum domain. You will lead the school’s Technologies programs, be responsible for the operations of Design Technologies, Digital Technologies, STEM and Home Economics facilities, and line‑manage specialist staff to ensure effective coordination, delivery and promotion of high‑quality Technologies education and community engagement initiatives.
