ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

We’re looking for a talented and driven Designer to join our Kidswear & Licensing team at Designworks. In this 6-month contract role, you’ll bring creativity and commercial acumen together, designing and developing innovative product ranges that align with both brand identity and customer needs. From concept through to production, you’ll collaborate with Design, Production, and Account Management teams to ensure exceptional quality, fit, and design integrity across every garment.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

- Design and develop new season ranges, creating fresh, trend-driven designs that meet brand and customer objectives.

- Research market and seasonal trends to ensure collections are relevant, innovative, and commercially successful.

- Liaise with offshore suppliers to manage product development timelines and ensure on-time sample delivery.

- Produce detailed art sheets and technical drawings, ensuring accuracy across trims, fabrics, and construction.

- Partner with Garment Techs and Production to ensure quality and fit standards are consistently achieved.

- Collaborate with Account Managers and Marketing to prepare range books, boards, and presentations.

- Mentor and support junior team members, fostering creativity and collaboration across the team.

ABOUT YOU

- Tertiary qualification in Fashion Design or a related discipline.

- Minimum 4 years’ experience in licensed or kidswear design within a fast-paced retail or wholesale environment.

- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and a keen eye for colour, detail, and composition.

- Knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and activewear or sportswear fabrics.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple deadlines.

- Passionate about design innovation, brand storytelling, and delivering products that excite customers.
