About the School

Townview State School has been delivering quality education to the Mount Isa community since 1965, with a strong tradition of academic, sporting and cultural success. Guided by the values of tolerance, knowledge and integrity, we set high expectations in a safe and supportive environment. About the Role

As the Head of Special Education Services, you will possess strong knowledge of inclusive education and behavior support, applying a trauma-informed approach to managing complex student cases. You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, working in genuine partnership with families and external agencies. Your leadership will support and inspire staff to deliver high-quality teaching and learning while fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture. The Head of Special Education Services is accountable to, and works under the direction of, the Principal or delegate.

The Townview Cluster HOSES will also be responsible for providing support to a selection of remote schools in the Mount Isa region.

Your Responsibilities

- Oversee support and intervention programs that enhance learning outcomes for students, including literacy intervention and ICPs.
- Build teacher capability in inclusive practices and curriculum differentiation.
- Provide complex case management for students, with experience in trauma-informed practice.
- Develop strong relationships with families and external providers to deliver wraparound support.
- Contribute to the leadership of the school through behaviour support, professional learning, and collaborative planning.
- Manage travel and remote school workload in collaboration with Townview State School and remote school Principals.
