Overview
Join a high-impact team shaping the future of underground mining performance at Gold Fields to deliver safe, reliable, cost effective and consistently stable operations. As part of our Asset Optimisation team, the Principal Specialist Underground Mining will play a pivotal role in strategic decision-making, operational improvement, performance optimisation, and ensuring consistency across our underground operations. You’ll provide leadership and collaborative influence across Gold Fields, championing best practice underground mining to help sites achieve their business plans.
Responsibilities
- Drive underground mining excellence by offering technical and operational guidance, promoting safety and risk awareness, and supporting performance across the Group.
- Mentor and influence operational leaders to embed improvements that consistently deliver on business objectives.
- Benchmark KPIs and technologies, while identifying and managing operational risks and opportunities across regions to support stable and consistent operations.
- Collaborate with sites and stakeholders to implement improvements and ensure alignment with business plans.
Qualifications
- Extensive underground mining experience with a Mining Engineering degree.
- Deep technical expertise spanning underground mining operations, fleet performance and continuous improvement.
- Strong project and financial modelling skills with the ability to manage complex tasks across regions and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strategic and collaborative leadership with resilience, adaptability, and drive to deliver results.
