Role Title

Commercial Manager

Role Description

Working in a dynamic, customer-facing environment, you will collaborate within the Commercial team to support the DDGSPO contract assurance and promote commercial best practices by providing strategic business advice, procurement support and contract management.

Responsibilities

- Provide specialist commercial advice and strategic planning.

- Design and develop appropriate procurement methodologies and contracting options, including commercial arrangements.

- Develop key commercial documentation: business cases, strategies, plans, reports, tender documents and formal correspondence.

- Maintain contract management plans, systems and tools.

- Manage commercial relationships, identify problems and resolve disputes.

- Monitor contract performance: review supplier deliverables, performance reporting, reviews and cost management.

- Implement commercial governance and assurance activities.

- Prepare and coordinate Deed/Contract Change Proposals.

- Support Phase‑in and Phase‑out activities.

- Transfer commercial knowledge to Commonwealth employees.

- Administer export control requirements.

Essential Requirements

- Tertiary qualification in Law/Commerce/Business/Finance or a related field.

- Prior, demonstrated experience in ASDEFCON and procurement.

- Minimum 8 years of Defence commercial experience.

- Strong commercial acumen and ability to navigate complex organisational structures.

- Holder of or ability to obtain NV1 security clearance.

- Australian citizenship; cannot be a former citizen or permanent resident of a prescribed nation.
