Special Projects and Events Manager

We’re seeking an experienced events professional to work within the organisation to plan and deliver large projects and events.

The role
This position leads planning and delivery of a range of large projects and events covering budgets, logistics, execution, delivery and evaluation. You’ll collaborate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders as well as multiple external partners to align goals and expectations.
About you
You have proven experience in projects and events. You are organised, detail-oriented and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
You are confident in managing multiple priorities and in using collaborative processes to enable that. You can demonstrate coordination of multiple moving parts under pressure.
You have an interest in and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues and of the reconciliation process in Australia. You have experience in or an understanding of the not-for-profit sector.

Required
- A demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and issues.
- At least 5-8 years demonstrated work experience in a project or events management role.
- Self-motivated with an ability to set and lead own agenda and workload with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated successful outcomes working on large scale and complex deliveries.
- Experience using project management software and collaboration tools, e.g. Excel, Asana
- Sound written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and accurately to a broad range of audiences.
- Strong customer service mentality and genuinely enjoys working with people.
- Ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, reports, schedules and step-by-step action plans.
- Strong client-facing and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated experience using a variety of project methodologies, with an ability to work to a hybrid methodology that is custom-fit to the outcomes of the project or event.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and senior stakeholders.
- Accreditation in Project Management (e.g. PMP; PMBOK; Prince2; Agile; Scrum).
- Working With Children/Vulnerable People Check or the ability to be eligible to acquire this.
The salary range for this role is $115,000 – $125,000 + superannuation (inclusive of 17.5% leave loading), dependent on experience and qualifications.
