Beyond caring for animals, we are dedicated to providing diverse services such as veterinary health, behaviour, advocacy and community education programs, all aimed at giving animals the best chance of a happy and healthy life. Our mission is upheld by passionate individuals who embody a profound affinity for animals, community, and advocacy.
About the role
The Outreach & Education Manager will lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of our community education and outreach programs. This role provides both strategic and operational leadership, ensuring our programs are effective, inclusive, and aligned with our mission to reduce shelter intake and improve animal welfare outcomes.
You will manage a small team and directly deliver training initiatives for staff, volunteers, councils, and the community. The role also drives growth in revenue‑generating education services, develops strong partnerships with councils and community organisations, and ensures all programs are sustainable, impactful, and measurable
About You
You’re a passionate and driven professional who thrives on building connections and making a positive impact in the community. With strong leadership skills and a commitment to evidence‑based, ethical animal welfare practice, you bring the ability to engage effectively with councils, staff, and community groups. Resilient, collaborative, and values‑driven, you’re ready to lead programs that create real outcomes for animals and the wider community.
Our ideal candidate will bring
- Demonstrated experience leading community, education, or outreach programs, ideally in animal welfare, not‑for‑profit, or human services.
- Proven ability to design, deliver, and evaluate training for diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, including coaching and mentoring.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership‑building capabilities.
- Strong financial and operational management, including budget oversight.
- High‑level communication skills with the ability to engage councils, staff, and community groups.
- A commitment to evidence‑based, ethical animal welfare practice.
- Qualifications in training (such as Cert IV TAE), experience with RTO delivery, and previous involvement in community development or council partnerships will be highly regarded.
- A valid driver’s licence.
About our culture:
At The Lost Dogs’ Home, we cultivate an inclusive work environment that celebrates diversity. Our team enjoys a vibrant culture that fosters meaningful connections, both professionally and socially. Led by our dedicated social committee, we organise a wide range of engaging activities such as Paint and Sip Nights, Bowling, Trivia, and regular after‑work gatherings. These events create opportunities for our team to relax, bond, and forge lasting friendships. We take pride in our diverse team where every individual is encouraged to be their authentic self, regardless of their role within the organisation.
What we can offer:
- A unique and rewarding career in animal welfare, where you can make a real difference in the lives of shelter animals.
- Fantastic career development opportunities, including financial assistance for approved studies.
- A supportive and passionate team, dedicated to developing your skills in animal welfare.
- Discounts at our Vet Hospital to support your own pet’s health.
- Access to our Employee Assistance Program and onsite counselling service for your wellbeing.
