The Role
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will lead a team of engineers and contribute to the delivery of diverse and technically challenging projects. Your role will involve hands-on engineering, mentoring junior team members, maintaining client relationships, and playing a key role in business leadership and project development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of structural engineers in delivering high-quality design and asset integrity services
- Conduct engineering investigations, design assessments, and oversee documentation
- Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Prepare proposals and cost estimates for new business opportunities
- Support team development and resourcing needs
- Actively participate in business leadership and development initiatives
- Promote continuous improvement and a safety-first culture
About You
You're a motivated engineering professional who thrives on solving complex problems and delivering meaningful solutions. You bring a solid technical background in structural engineering and enjoy fostering a positive team culture.
Essential Criteria:
- Degree in Structural Engineering (accredited by Engineers Australia)
- Minimum 7 years' relevant industry experience
- Chartered (CPEng) or working towards it, with eligibility for RPEQ/RPEV
- Strong knowledge of AS4100, AS1170, AS3600 and related standards
- Proficiency in structural software such as SPACEGASS, IDEA StatiCa, Strand7
- Strong ability to conduct hand calculations and technical reporting
- Experience with site inspections and structural integrity assessments
- Skilled in coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Current driver's licence
Desirable:
- Proven experience in business development and project leadership
- Consulting background (local or international)
- Budget management skills
- White card for construction site access
