Overview
The Assistant Category Manager is responsible for undertaking sourcing activities related to a designated category to ensure value for money is realised, contracts deliver the required outcomes, and risks are appropriately managed across SA Health through the procurement process.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for designated categories.
- Conduct market research and supplier analysis to ensure value for money.
- Prepare and issue tender documents, evaluate bids and recommend awardees.
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions with suppliers.
- Monitor contract performance and manage supplier relationships.
- Ensure procurement processes comply with SA Health policies, legal and statutory requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Criminal History Check: A “National Police Certificate” (NPC) or “Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check” (NCCHC) is required for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups.
- Immunisation: Category C (minimal patient contact). Must meet SA Health's vaccine policy and occupational assessments.
- Experience in procurement, contract management or category management within the public sector.
- Strong analytical, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
