About the Opportunity

We are looking for a Learning Support Education Assistant with relevant experience to join a large dynamic team of educators and support staff at Alta-1 College.

At Alta-1 we recognise that adverse life experiences can impact a student’s sense of self-worth, motivation and capacity for learning, making engagement in a mainstream school setting difficult.

As an independent, co-educational CARE (Curriculum and Reengagement in Education) School, Alta-1 is a Christian organi s ation that works with students from years 7-12. We provide students with wraparound support to guide them on a journey of recovery through a trauma-informed approach. This approach helps students acknowledge, confront, and resolve barriers that have impacted their ability to reach their full potential.

These relationships serve as the foundation for effective teaching and learning, allowing us to better understand and support the unique needs and aspirations of each student.

If successful, you will be responsible for the delivery of the best possible duty of care for each student in light of the values and objectives of Alta-1 College.

You are highly relational.

Your strong relational skills, adaptability, and diplomacy thrive in this dynamic environment. Your understanding of learning difficulties enables you to handle numerous students with complex needs effectively. Your passion lies in cultivating and nurturing healthy relationships with students, staff, and fellow support team members.

You are an organisational guru.

Your organi s ational ability and literacy and numeracy expertise are your superpowers. Collaborating with Campus Teachers, Learning Support Teachers, and other staff, you/'ll assist in crafting personalised learning plans for each student. Daily tasks will involve managing student data, funding requests, and related paperwork. Your role spans multiple campus sites with varying needs that require efficient triage and resolution.

You can navigate a complex environment.

Your advanced emotional intelligence equips you to navigate this complex environment with grace and compassion. While you can work autonomously, when necessary, a significant aspect of your role involves collaboration with various student support team members.

Qualifications

Minimum Certificate IV in School Based Education Support and Cert IV in Training and Assessing or willing to obtain within 12 months
