The Opportunity
The Department is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to lead the delivery of its Grants and Agreements Program. This role supports the objectives of the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030, administering funding programs such as Better Bins and Better Bins Plus. The successful applicant will:
- Manage governance frameworks and probity in grant administration
- Oversee a team of four staff
- Provide strategic advice on program alignment and opportunities for improvement
- Ensure delivery of program outcomes within defined timeframes and budget
- Engage with stakeholders, including local governments, community organisations, and other government agencies
Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of the Grants and Agreements Program
- Maintain governance, probity, and accountability in grant administration
- Direct a team of four staff with a focus on performance and development
- Provide strategic, budgetary, and timing advice to Senior Manager Programs
- Monitor program outcomes and reporting against commitments
- Foster effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in budget and project management, leadership, and team development
- Strategic thinking and high-level communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation and policy relevant to government objectives
- Desirable: knowledge of contemporary best practices in waste avoidance and resource recovery; experience managing waste-related programs
