Manager, Financial Reporting and Analysis
3 weeks ago
Overview
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Finance Officer, the Manager, Financial Reporting and Analysis is a key leadership role within the Finance team, responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of financial accounting at the Memorial. This includes end-to-end management of the annual financial statements process—from preparation and review through to audit coordination and final sign-off—ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and Commonwealth financial reporting requirements.
The role offers significant accountability and visibility, making it ideal for a candidate seeking ownership of core financial processes and the opportunity to influence outcomes at an institutional level. The position also leads a small team and works closely with other finance functions to deliver integrated financial operations. With scope to represent the DCFO and CFO in internal and external forums, this role provides a valuable development pathway for professionals aspiring to broader financial leadership.
The key duties of the position include
- Lead the end-to-end preparation and delivery of the Memorial's annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and Commonwealth reporting requirements.
- Coordinate all aspects of the annual external audit, acting as the primary liaison with internal and external auditors to ensure a smooth and timely audit process.
- Oversee monthly and annual financial reporting to the Department of Finance and provide high-quality financial analysis and reporting to senior management and Council.
- Manage and support a small team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture and contributing to the broader leadership of the Finance section.
- Provide oversight of the Financial Operations team, including responsibility for cash management, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll functions.
- Manage the Memorial's banking arrangements and ensure effective cash flow management, liquidity monitoring, and compliance with banking requirements.
- Collaborate closely with other finance functions—including budgeting, procurement, and financial systems—to ensure integrated and efficient financial operations.
- Oversee the Memorial's asset management and capitalisation processes, including asset valuation and reporting.
- Develop and maintain financial accounting policies and procedures and prepare high-level reports to support compliance and strategic decision-making.
- Identify and lead opportunities for continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting practices.
- Represent the DCFO/CFO as required in internal and external forums.
