About the role: Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional looking to make an impact in a dynamic and supportive environment? We’re seeking a skilled Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our team in Wagga Wagga, where you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial services to our valued clients. This role will see you performing a variety of bookkeeping responsibilities including reviewing, organising and processing information using client source data, analysing reports and preparing financial acquittals. - Assist with the preparation of financial statements in accordance with accounting standards; - Apply knowledge of client/firm/industry trends and current issues; - Assist accountant in preparing client BAS, IAS, Payroll Tax, LSL Levy and other ongoing tax and superannuation compliance requirements; - Prepare reconciliations of bank accounts; - Prepare accounts receivable and accounts payable; - Process payroll; - Prepare period end journals, supporting documentation and periodic balance sheet reconciliations; - Prepare workpapers for annual audits and respond to audit queries; - Allocate costs and income to multiple programs in accordance with funding contract requirements; - Review and analyse draft reports for accuracy and reasonableness; - Assist with client relationship management. About you: You’re a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a strong foundation in bookkeeping and accounting. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy solving problems, and take pride in delivering accurate and timely financial support. Your ability to work independently, combined with excellent customer service and communication skills, makes you a trusted partner to clients and colleagues alike. Demonstrated Experience & Attributes - 4+ years of relevant experience in bookkeeping/accounting; - Relevant qualifications in accounting or finance; - Proficiency in Xero and MYOB AccountRight; - Solid payroll processing experience; - Strong understanding of accounting principles (Dr’s & Cr’s, P&L, Balance Sheet); - Sound knowledge of GST and tax compliance; - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; - Ability to identify and communicate process improvements; - Strong organisational and time management skills; - Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills; - Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
