Charlton Christian College is a K–12 co-educational Christian college of over 800 students, located in Fassifern, Lake Macquarie. Our mission is to provide a Christ-centred education of excellence that helps students develop their God-given potential.

We are seeking a passionate and relational Chaplain to join our team. This key role provides pastoral care, mentoring and spiritual leadership to support the emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing of students, families and staff in a Christ-centred environment.

About the Role

- Provide pastoral care and spiritual support to students through mentoring, relationship building and chaplaincy programs.

- Lead and coordinate Chapel services, assemblies and devotions that are inclusive, age-appropriate and biblically grounded.

- Facilitate Bible study and discipleship groups that encourage student faith and community.

- Partner with the Counsellors, Stage Leaders and staff to support student wellbeing and spiritual formation.
Provide guidance on spiritual and ethical matters and connect families with local churches or community resources.

The Successful Applicant Will Have:

1. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ, regular attendance at a Christian church, and support for the College’s Statement of Faith.

2. Relevant tertiary qualification in chaplaincy, theology, ministry, pastoral care or a related field or equivalent qualifications and experience.

3. Demonstrated experience in pastoral ministry, chaplaincy, or Christian leadership in a school, church, or community setting.

4. Experience working with children and young people across different developmental stages.

5. Experience in planning and delivering Christian programs such as Bible studies, chapels, or devotions.

6. Understanding of the boundaries of chaplaincy (pastoral support, not counselling) and referral pathways to professional services.

7. Knowledge of child protection legislation, privacy requirements, and duty of care responsibilities.

8. Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).

9. Demonstrated ability in behavioural competencies relevant to the role, including:

- Adhering to Principles and Values

- Relating and Networking

- Adapting and Responding to Change

Salary & Conditions

The full-time equivalent salary for this role is circa $77,000–$115,000 depending on skills and experience. As the position is term-time only (approximately 40 weeks/year plus accrued annual leave), the actual pro‑rata salary range payable is approximately $64,000-$95,000. This amount is averaged across the year to provide consistent fortnightly payments. The role is remunerated under the Christian Schools General Staff Multi-Enterprise Agreement and will receive a 4% increase from 1 February 2026.
