The Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Account Director to manage a diverse portfolio of client accounts, with a strong focus on integrated creative, digital and media clients. This role requires a strategic thinker with proven leadership capabilities, exceptional client management expertise, and the ability to foster operational excellence across the agency.
The Account Director will be the primary point of contact for key clients, overseeing the development and execution of strategies across creative, content, media, and digital channels in retail, education, financial services, and other categories. Beyond client delivery, this role plays a pivotal part in shaping agency culture, continuously improving operations, and uplifting account management practices to set benchmarks for the team.
Key Responsibilities
Client Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key integrated clients, understanding their business needs and challenges to deliver tailored solutions.
- Act as the primary contact for clients, ensuring smooth and successful project delivery across print, digital, and media.
- Provide strategic counsel and thought leadership to clients, driving innovation and results across campaigns.
Project Oversight
- Oversee delivery of multiple creative, content, and media projects, ensuring they meet client expectations, are on time, and within budget.
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for all projects, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement innovative strategies and campaigns that drive measurable outcomes.
- Monitor project performance, making adjustments as necessary to achieve client goals and optimize results.
- Manage external contractors, freelancers, and media partners to deliver against client briefs.
- Act as the main liaison between the agency, clients, and all external vendors, including production, distribution, and media partners.
Team & Agency Leadership
- Lead by example, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and positive working environment.
- Champion agency culture, inspiring creativity, innovation, and accountability across teams.
- Mentor and support account management staff, improving operational practices and setting high standards for client servicing.
- Partner with leadership to refine processes, tools, and frameworks that enhance efficiency and elevate the agency's ways of working.
Business development & marketing
- Identify growth opportunities within existing creative and media accounts, driving organic growth.
- Support new business efforts, including pitches, proposals, and case study development.
- Work with the Managing Director and Commercial Director to ensure agency credentials and marketing materials are current and compelling.
Financial management
- Oversee account budgets, ensuring financial targets are met and profitability is maximised.
- Review and approve budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to clients and internal teams.
Skills and experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in account management, with a strong background in managing creative and media clients.
- Solid understanding of marketing, creative, digital, media, and strategic planning.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to mentor teams and drive agency culture and operational excellence.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex client and operational challenges with tact and professionalism.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
