MinterEllison is one of Australia’s largest independent law and consulting firms. With a heritage of almost 200 years, we are known for our excellence, and our authentic and enduring relationships with our clients, our people and our communities. Clients seek out MinterEllison to help them solve complex problems every day. We do this by our full-service legal offering and complementary consulting offering.
We offer opportunities to work on industry-leading mandates for top-tier clients, while being part of a high-performing and collaborative team that values excellence, diversity of thought, curiosity, and inclusion. We value our people and empower them to achieve their ambitions - with the support, trust and autonomy to grow their careers in meaningful ways.
At MinterEllison, we're leading the way with AI and other emerging technologies, powering innovation right across our firm. You will have the opportunity to engage with AI tools we've built, and other external AI tools, to enhance efficiencies and excellence internally and with our clients.
A great opportunity currently exists for a Lawyer or Associate with at least two years of post admission experience to join our Melbourne Insurance and Corporate Risk team.
The team you will work with is led by partners Patrick Considine, Kristy Brockwell, Dora Cosentino and Peter Coats, who are nationally recognised for pre-eminence in litigation and insurance law. We have a diverse and well-established client base, including private and government clients.
We advise and represent our clients in sensitive and complex litigation including coronial inquests, a wide range of tort-based claims such as negligence, battery, assault, false imprisonment and defamation claims, as well as advising in regulatory investigations and prosecutions. If you love problem solving, assessing risk, forensically analysing evidence, crisis management and providing strategic advice, this role is for you
What you need
- have at least two to three years' experience in insurance litigation;
- are familiar with civil procedure in the Victorian Supreme Court and County Court;
- can explain complex issues to clients clearly and concisely;
- have unwavering attention to detail and technical excellence;
- have a strong client focus and demonstrated ability to form enduring relationships with clients and industry experts;
- thrive in a highly collaborative environment; and
- take pride in their work and who they work with.
