Overview

Newly created role – Manager – Project Portfolio Planning. This role is pivotal in leading strategy execution, planning, prioritisation, benefits realisation, resource management and enhancing delivery capability—especially important as the business scales. It is an exciting opportunity to shape the role and work with a highly regarded leader.

Responsibilities

- Strategic Portfolio Alignment: ensure all projects, programs, and small change initiatives are aligned with group strategic objectives
- Strategy Execution: shape enterprise strategy into a prioritised portfolio of initiatives by creating and sustaining strategic roadmaps that support effective decision-making and maintain alignment across planning and stakeholder groups
- Prioritisation: lead the evaluation and selection of initiatives through a structured intake process. Prioritise work based on strategic value, capacity, and business needs
- Resource & Financial Management: optimise allocation of internal and external resources to maximise delivery efficiency and return on investment. Manage portfolio budgets, track financial performance, and ensure delivery of expected outcomes and value
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: track and report on the health of the portfolio—including financials, OKRs/KPIs, delivery status, and team engagement. Provide transparent and actionable updates to executive sponsors, governance forums, and stakeholders
- Risk & Dependency Management: maintain a comprehensive RAID log at the portfolio level. Identify and mitigate risks proactively and manage cross-initiative dependencies to support successful outcomes
- Stakeholder Engagement: build strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams and executives. Work with change and communications teams to share the portfolio vision, progress, key milestones
- Delivery Capability & Continuous Improvement: drive a culture of continuous improvement by enhancing portfolio management practices, tools, and delivery methodologies. Support agile principles and contribute to Communities of Practice to uplift organisational capability
- Governance & Compliance: ensure adherence to Portfolio & Delivery Standards, including governance, reporting, and tooling

Skills & Experience

- Demonstrated experience operating at a Portfolio level within the Financial Services industry – must have
- Wealth Management industry experience – must have
- A solid understanding of Portfolio, Program and Project methodology and delivery
- Experience uplifting Delivery Capabilities / Process improvement within a portfolio or PMO
- Proven, high quality, articulate stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to liaise with C Suite and Executive stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving capabilities
- Energy, enthusiasm and a passion for making a tangible difference
