Council of the City of Sydney, Australia Bendigo & Adelaide Bank Full time

Overview

- Directly contribute to the growth and success of a specialist team within the bank
- Work closely with Directors while building lasting networks within the industry
- Contribute to our strategy to be Australia’s most innovative bank

We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

Launch your career with Bendigo Bank's Major Client Group (MCG) division

We’re seeking a highly motivated Associate to play a pivotal supporting role as part of the experienced Portfolio Funding team. The Portfolio Funding team sits within the MCG division, which also has teams that specialise in healthcare, corporate banking and loan markets.

The Portfolio Funding team structure and manage bespoke investments in their clients’ debt portfolios (via e.g. securitisation warehouses). Our clients include a range of mid-to-large non-bank financial institutions, other mid-sized banks, including digital banks across residential, commercial and consumer lending. To succeed in this role, you will need a blend of analytical, relationship building, and financial skills.

The role provides excellent opportunities to develop expertise in securitisation, additionally providing a stepping stone to more senior roles within MCG, offering significant career advancement potential.

In this dynamic and high-impact role, you’ll make your mark by:

- Conducting thorough risk assessments of loan portfolios and suggesting mitigation strategies. This is crucial for the team's success.
- Acting as the primary internal contact for program management and external stakeholders, building and maintaining key relationships.
- Assisting with identifying and securing new business opportunities to support team growth.
- Reviewing portfolio data, identifying trends, and providing insights to improve risk profiles and customer value.
- Ensuring all activities align with bank policies, procedures, and risk appetite. This is a critical responsibility.

What you’ll bring to the role

To succeed in this role, you will have:

- A tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, law, or management.
- Experience in credit writing within business or corporate banking is highly desirable.

We would also love you to demonstrate:

- Strong analytical skills for conducting in-depth risk assessments, analysing portfolio data, and identifying trends. Experience with financial modelling would be a significant advantage.
- Excellent communication & relationship management as the role demands strong communication to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- A solid understanding of finance, particularly lending, securitisation, and risk management, is critical. Knowledge of different asset classes (residential, commercial, consumer) would be beneficial.
- Problem-solving skills including the ability to identify and resolve risk issues proactively is vital in this risk-focused role.
- Being proactive and always organised as the role involves managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, requiring strong organisational and time management skills.

Ready to make an impact? This opportunity offers invaluable experience, career progression, and the chance to work within a dynamic and supportive team.

So, why work with us?

- Want big impact that matters? Here, you’ll know your work directly benefits the customers and communities we all serve.

- Health and wellbeing support, including discounted gym memberships, and private health insurance options.
- Take your learning to the next level through opportunities like our corporate university ‘BEN U’ or at an external provider of your choice.
