Technical Lab Developer, Training and Certification

Job ID: 3130419 | Amazon Web Services Australia Pty Ltd

As cloud technologies continue to transform businesses, skilled individuals are in high demand. At AWS Training and Certification (T&C), we are passionate about revolutionizing the way people advance their cloud skills and careers. We equip diverse builders of today and tomorrow with the knowledge they need to leverage the power of the AWS Cloud. Join our dynamic, fast‑growing team and help us empower our customers to build cloud skills.

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Training and Certification Team is looking for a Technical Lab Developer who wants to be a part of building exciting and new training for AWS Training and Certification. Customers are rapidly adopting Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a way to build scalable and cost‑effective web and IT solutions for their businesses. To do that effectively, they need training, and not just a couple of PowerPoint slides and a long lecture. AWS is developing highly technical learning focused on cloud security, machine learning (ML) models and Generative AI (GenAI) solutions that get customers deep into AWS technologies. The qualified candidate will have experience implementing cloud environment security best practices, an understanding of how ML models and GenAI solutions are implemented within cloud infrastructure, and a demonstrated ability to implement architecture design strategies based on technical requirements and learning objectives. Candidates will have excellent technical knowledge of AWS domains. Above all, you will have a passion for learning.

Please note up to 10% travel may be required for this role, primarily for event support.

Key job responsibilities

- Dive deep into AWS technologies, such as Security, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Big Data, Web Applications, Networking, High Performance Computing, Storage, Databases, Enterprise Applications, Migration Strategies or other solutions areas to understand services in order to develop effective training for our customers.

- Develop and maintain a cohesive set of real‑world, scenario‑based labs to reinforce the learning objectives for AWS courseware by offering hands‑on learning for students.

- Ensure that hands‑on labs are built for scalability and long‑term support.

- Work with the Technical Curriculum Architects and Lab Engineers to provide support and maintenance for the deployed hands‑on labs.

- Determine services and features to be included in course lab exercises based on intended audience profile, learning objectives, AWS best practices and strategic initiatives.

- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts across AWS (including Curriculum Developers, Technical Trainers, Support Engineers, Professional Services, and Solutions Architects) to build technically accurate training that meets the learning objectives.

A day in the life

The Technical Lab Developer builds interactive labs and demo experiences to teach customers technical skills. This typically involves using AWS CloudFormation, IAM policies, and scripts to deploy and configure AWS services. The lab developer also responds to tickets, patches labs, and provides technical reviews of learning content in development.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and/or software development

- 3+ years of experience in cloud security

- 1+ years of experience in ML operations and implementation

- 1+ years prior experience designing, deploying, and operating infrastructure and/or applications with the cloud

- Degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent on the job experience

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge and/or hands‑on experience with AWS infrastructure services highly desired.

- Professional experience architecting systems built with Amazon Web Services.

- A demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.

- A demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Experience designing, developing, and delivering instructional materials for technical content
