Council of the City of Sydney, Australia Pathway Search Full time

About Us

We're a fast‑growing start‑up in the consumer finance space on a mission to reshape how consumers access credit at the point of sale. By partnering with merchants across a wide range of industries, we provide smarter, more flexible finance solutions that help customers afford what matters—without the stress. We’re building a platform that’s fair, transparent, and customer‑first—and we’re looking for a skilled Credit Analyst to help us deliver responsible lending decisions that balance growth and care.

Location & Contract

4 days a week in the office. North Sydney. 12 month FTC.

About the Role

This is a critical role in our credit operations team. You’ll be responsible for assessing loan applications that fall outside our automated decisioning engine—reviewing credit data, identifying risks, and making decisions within your Delegated Lending Authority (DLA) or recommending outcomes where required. Applications come through accredited merchant partners and are supported by robust data from our loan management platform, including bank statements and credit bureau reports.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Assess point‑of‑sale loan applications in line with our credit risk appetite and within your DLA

- Analyse customer‑submitted data, bank transaction histories, and credit bureau reports to assess both creditworthiness and responsible lending obligations

- Approve, decline, recommend, or request further information depending on the application and policy requirements

- Collaborate with the Collections team to restructure loans for customers in hardship or as part of proactive risk management

- Provide high‑quality written commentary and rationale for all assessments

- From time to time, support the wider customer service function, including debt recovery activities

Success in this role will be measured by:

- Turnaround time on decisions

- Quality and consistency of credit assessments

- Accuracy and clarity in documentation

What You’ll Bring

- 5+ years’ experience in financial services or banking, with a strong focus on unsecured consumer lending

- Sound understanding of credit regulations including NCCP, RG209 and the Privacy Act

- Hands‑on experience working with bank transaction data and credit bureau reports (including CCR)

- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal

- A customer‑first mindset with commercial awareness and risk judgement

- Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to step in where needed

Nice to Have

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications

- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities

- A practical, solutions‑focused mindset
