Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Overview

12 months contract with a possible extension; Hybrid work arrangements (WFH + Canberra).

Primary purpose of the role

You will be providing day to day support of VMWare and Microsoft Virtual Infrastructure solutions including vCenter and System Centre Virtual Machine Manager, Guest Operating Systems, and the underlying hardware (both physical and virtual) in a large enterprise environment.

Key accountabilities

1. Provide advanced support for VMware ESXi 6.5 and above, including the following products:

- VMware ESXi Server 6.5 and above
- VMware vCenter 7.x and above
- VMware vRealize Operations
- VMware vRealize Log Insight
- VMware vRealize Network Insight
- VMware vRealize Orchestrator
- VMware NSX-T
- VMCare 4.5 and above
- VMware HCX
- VMware VRA
- VMware Site Recovery Manager

2. Provide advanced support for Hyper-V 2016 and above, including SCVMM.

- Support HPE Server Hardware (BL and DL Series), C7000 Blade Enclosures including Virtual Connect and Onboard Administrators, and HPE System Insight Manager.
- Support Dell Server Hardware (MX and R series), MX7000 Blade Chassis including fabric switching modules, Dell Fabric Switching Engine, converged hosting operations and DRAC interface management, OME and RacADM.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic support for Windows Server (2012R2 / 2016 / 2019 / 2022) and related infrastructure (AD, DNS, DHCP, Failover Clustering, SCOM, SCCM etc.)
- Provide feedback to senior management on the customer experience, generate utilisation and licensing reports, perform capacity forecasting, and advise on strategic direction.
- Liaise with customers to gather feedback on new desired features and capabilities and develop strategies to implement these features and capabilities.
- Produce platform design documentation, provide input into wider enterprise architecture patterns, participate in system design processes, ITSM case management, IT change control and associated functions within a corporate ICT environment.

Essential requirements

- 3-5 years’ experience in the provision of high-level support, maintenance, and design for Virtual Platforms for hosted applications and services in an enterprise ESX Server environment. Relevant certifications would be highly advantageous.
- Experience operating within a team of professionals under broad direction, developing business relationships, sharing relevant knowledge and experience, and providing coaching and mentoring to junior staff members.
- Knowledge of ITIL framework, an ITIL Foundation Certificate would be advantageous.
- Experience deploying and managing VMWare Cloud Foundation, Amazon AWS VMC and Microsoft Azure AVS is highly desirable.
- Possessing a demonstrated ability to develop scripting using PowerShell, including the integration of VMware PowerCLI with HPE Support Modules and Dell RacADM would be advantageous.
- The ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance is necessary.
- Driver's license is essential.
