Position: Head of Department - Mathematics (Fixed Term - Full Time)
The role is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency.
Duncraig Senior High School (SHS) is situated in the north-western suburbs on the coastal strip 18 kilometres from Perth, catering for students from Year 7 to 12. The school focuses on high standards and the care and progress of every student.
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative leader with outstanding interpersonal, organisational and communication skills to lead a strong, highly skilled and diverse Mathematics team and to be a key member of the school’s senior leadership team.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead quality teaching, learning and assessment programs in line with the Western Australian Curriculum and WACE courses.
- Lead the development of highly engaging Mathematics curriculum for students of all levels, including differentiation to meet student needs.
- Utilise data to reflect on and assess the effectiveness of teaching practices within the school’s instructional framework; promote an environment of active and positive learning.
- Provide educational opportunities and activities that enable students to achieve their highest potential.
- Lead and have extensive experience in operating high level ATAR courses (Specialist, Methods, and Applications); build staff capacity to work with highly capable students from gifted and talented and academic extension programs.
- Work with the school’s assistive technologies and leverage digital tools to support student learning.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated capacity to provide effective leadership in diverse educational settings.
- High level interpersonal and public relations skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve outcomes.
- Professional knowledge to ensure high educational outcomes for all students, including Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs.
- Demonstrated capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.
- Data literacy and ability to reflect on teaching effectiveness in line with the school’s instructional framework.

Eligibility

- Hold registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
- Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
