[3 Days Left] Dean of Teaching

Southern Hills Christian College is a K-12 Christian school in Bedfordale, Western Australia, and is part of the Swan Christian Education Association. Our staff are all committed Christians, and this belief is embedded both explicitly and implicitly in our curriculum and all that we do.

We are seeking a strategic and collaborative Dean of Teaching and Learning to join our Secondary School team in an ongoing position commencing on the 1st January 2026. This role consists of a 0.4 FTE administrative component and a 0.6 FTE Teaching component, for a subject to be decided depending on your experience and school availability.

In this role, you will provide educational leadership that fosters excellence in teaching, student learning, and staff development, while supporting the Head of Secondary in implementing strategies to enhance academic performance, curriculum innovation, and alignment with the College’s values and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities Include:

- Provide educational leadership by promoting school values, ethos, and priorities, and fostering shared ownership of the school’s vision and goals among staff and the community.

- Apply effective change management strategies to support the school community in embracing opportunities for improvement.

- Assist the Head of Secondary in leading and motivating staff to enhance student outcomes and the quality of school services.

- Contribute to the development of the School Improvement and Strategic Plans through participative decision-making, policy development, and system implementation.

- Promote teaching and learning by fostering a responsive, inclusive curriculum and providing strategic direction, coaching, and mentoring to staff.

- Establish and manage administrative and operational systems to ensure effective school operations, staff management, and student wellbeing.

Selection Criteria:

- Demonstrate a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and active involvement in a Christian church, living consistently with the Association’s Statement of Faith and Educational Objectives.

- Meet the Department of Education (WA) requirements for teaching and show competence in your subject area through evidence of professional practice.

- Demonstrate a clear understanding of assessment, evaluation, and effective teaching and learning principles.

- Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs and course objectives.

- Work collaboratively as part of a team, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Integrate ICT into teaching and learning while maintaining a commitment to ongoing professional growth.

Desirable

- Experience in teaching Year 7 to Year 12

- Experience in middle or senior leadership within a school setting.
