Whyalla, Australia Alinta Energy Full time

Alinta Energy is one of Australia’s biggest energy retailers, generators and developers with over 1.1 million customers. Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our team at Alinta Energy, playing a key role in the development of the Reeves Plains Energy Hub, located north of Adelaide. This exciting greenfield project aims to enhance regional energy security and stability within the power grid, supporting Australia's transition to net-zero emissions.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction of a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and ensuring the project is delivered according to established time, cost, quality, and compliance standards. Your leadership will be crucial in coordinating the project team, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

About the role

You will advocate for Alinta Energy’s safety culture, relentlessly pursuing a zero-harm environment while implementing effective project management practices.

Responsibilities

- Foster a culture of zero harm by implementing and monitoring health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Ensure the project meets contractual obligations by overseeing contractors and managing on-site performance.
- Develop and maintain project-specific management plans, including quality control, budgeting, and scheduling, while ensuring robust reporting frameworks are in place.
- Facilitate clear communication with internal teams, external stakeholders, and the community to keep everyone informed and engaged.
- Lead and develop a high-performing project team, focusing on alignment with business objectives and effective resource management.

Requirements

- Hold a technical bachelor’s degree, preferably with qualifications in engineering, construction, or project management.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in similar-sized projects (A$100m+) with a focus on energy infrastructure.
- Proven track record in managing construction teams and complex projects.
- Experience with major energy infrastructure, ideally including utility battery storage or transmission substations.
- Strong analytical skills to assess and mitigate organisational risks effectively.

Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.

Alinta Energy offers a truly diverse, safe and supportive work environment. As an equal opportunity employer, Alinta Energy encourages applications from any qualified person, including First Nations Australians, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people of all ages and people living with a disability.
